Tianzifang (sometimes also referred to as Taikang road) is a complex of of narrow quaint alleys and shikumen (stone gate) houses, originally a residential area built in the thirties, which has been transformed into a block filled with numerous small craft stores, art studios, restaurants and coffee shops, next to local residents’ homes.
It can get very crowded in the tiny alleys at weekends or public holidays, therefore go on a weekday if possible.
The numerous little boutique shops in the picturesque quaint alleys are an excellent place to shop for souvenirs. definitely worth to spend some time wandering around and getting lost in the maze of quaint alleys – also great for photographers.

Coffee Dan is offering some of the best coffees in Shanghai. look out for the sign downstairs and climb the steep stairs to the 2nd floor.
