Seesaw Coffee Yuyuan road store
433 Yuyuan road
Seesaw coffee has been established by three Chinese coffee enthusiasts back in 2011, striving for the perfectly balanced cup. They have now several locations in Shanghai (Huaihai road, IAPM, IFC and reel department stores amongst others), but the Seesaw Coffee Yuyuan road shop remains my top choice.
The Yuyuan road store is located on the ground floor of the Jing’an design center, a shared creative office space with around 50 units. My favorite spot is the large and airy indoor courtyard with plenty of natural lighting, but there is also a smaller, darker space inside.
The friendly baristas are very passionate about their coffee. Espresso based coffees come in two variations: fruity or floral. Single origins are available as pour over or cold drip and are presented with a little card with their flavor profile. The single origin selection includes beans from Chinese Yunnan province with a choice between different processing methods (dried / washed / honey) in addition to beans from Kenya, Ethopia and Costa rica (all 38 rmb) and Geisha for 98 rmb. Americanos (28 rmb) are served in pretty Loveramics cups.
Food offerings are limited to cakes and cookies, but hey, you are mainly here for the excellent coffee (and maybe the cozy courtyard).
