Metro lines 2 / 10: east nanjing road (exit 7)
Bus 71: terminal station (yanan road (e) / the bund)
From pudong lujiazui (dongchang rd): take the ferry to puxi (bund, close to yanan rd intersection)
The Bund is an embarked waterfront along the bank of huangpu river in huangpu district on the Puxi side, stretching from iconic century old waibaidu bridge in the north to Yanan road in the south.
Located north of the former old Chinese town, the bund was the heart of the international settlement, its buildings mostly dating back to the twenties of last century. At that time home to trading houses and banks amongst others, the buildings are now mainly occupied by banks, high-end restaurants, hotels and luxury shops.
The bund is definitely a must see for everyone visiting Shanghai, both at day and at night. during day time you can admire the beauty of the majestic buildings. Have a look into the former HSBC building, now home to the Shanghai Pudong development bank, whose entrance is guarded by two stone lions. Check out the beautiful peace hotel at the intersection with Nanjing road or go to the splendid Waldorf Astoria for afternoon tea or drinks at the Long Bar.
At night time buildings are illuminated until 11pm offering a spectacular view. From the waterfront you also can enjoy a terrific view on the modern skyscrapers of the Lujiazui financial district on the opposite side of huangpu river.
Skip the overpriced bund sightseeing tunnel going under the huangpu to the opposite Pudong side. Tickets for the few-minutes ride along with mediocre and bizarre audio-visual effects are 50 rmb. Take the ferry for 2 rmb fromt he southern end of the bund (close to Yanan road intersection) instead if you plan to head on to opposite Pudong Lujiazui. Yu garden on the Puxi side is within walking distance.
